Faclities

Saxon Horse Riding Club and School is located adjacent to the Rocking Horse Pub in the centre of Nanoose bay, providing a multitude of Equestrian facilities for use by Club members and visiting associations and individuals. The site covers 12 acres within the Rocking horse area and provides easy access to the surrounding trails as well as having specifically built arenas to cover the main disciplines of Horsemanship.

As part of the facility, it is planned that a club house and office unit including bathroom facilities will be available for 2009 season for members to hire for meetings and other events. Office space with full internet and phone service will also be available to associations or clubs to use as a base of operations.

Camping
With specific parking areas for travel trailers to hook up to mains electric and water, adjacent to individual corrals for those weekend events or just overnight stops. Grass areas for tents shall also be provided.

Open air 30mt x 60mt washed sand surface. The Weston arena has been built with Barrel racing & reining in mind, with a deep soft surface providing a suitable surface for tight turns and sliding stops.

Western Arena
Open air 30mt x 60mt washed sand surface. The Weston arena has been built with Barrel racing & reining in mind, with a deep soft surface providing a suitable surface for tight turns and sliding stops.

Dressage Arena
Open air 30mt x 60mt washed sand & crumb rubber surface. The arena has been built to specifically benefit the Dressage rider & horse, with a firm Footing of a combined mixture of washed sand & crumb Rubber to a depth of 2 inches, this will provide a more sure footing for the horse as well as being beneficial to the rider, giving more pronounced movements to both horse & rider. The base to the arena has been built in stages allowing the ground to settle with each application and has included drainage to provide an arena that can be used to its maximum.

Flood lighting provides illumination into the evening or on dark winter days & its planned to include a sound system to provide music to the events. A commentary box will also be available for use by judges & staff.

School Arena
Opening Opening spring 2009. Open air 20mt x 40mt washed sand surface. The Arena is surrounded by mature trees providing both a windbreak and shade during the summer months & has excellent drainage to combat the worst of the islands weather, as the arena is set on a gradient this has allowed for a covered seating area overlooking the arena, the arena is also illuminated with flood lights for use of an evening.

The purpose of the school arena is for instructors to teach the basics of riding to all levels of rider in a safe and secure environment. The arena can also be used as a warm up arena when holding other preplanned events at the club.

Event field
Opening Spring 2009 Open air level grass field 40mt x 120mt; A commentary box with sound shall be available. Water points will also be available for events. The field shall have floodlights. To be used for Show jumping, Carriage driving, Endurance & Competitive trail events, And to introduce polo-cross to riders of the Mid island community.
